Restructuring: probably Monday’s announcements too

According to the latest information, it is a matter of a few hours, it is a reorganization, since as everything shows, the options of Kyriakos Mitsotakis were “blocked”.

According to the information, the prime minister has “measured” and “evaluated” the effectiveness but also the behavior of mostly non-parliamentarians whom he trusted, has drawn his conclusions and has made his decisions.

Thus, according to the information circulating in the last hours, the announcements of the changes in the government will be made on Monday at noon by the government representative, Stelios Petsas.

In fact, Stelios Petsas had announced the reorganization in the morning, speaking to SKAI, talking about “a new year, a new beginning”. “The prime minister will make his decisions when he deems it appropriate,” he said.

What changes is the prime minister preparing?

According to information in recent days, the restructuring is expected to be structural. In fact, ministers are expected to move to other portfolios, possibly leaving part of the government.

The basic structure of the government is not expected to change much as it is considered to have overcome the challenges it faced mainly in the last year, starting with Evros last February, the crisis in Greek-Turkish relations and dealing with the pandemic of coronavirus.

At the same time, it is expected that the contribution of some deputy ministers to address the problems in their field, through their improvement, will be recognized.

On the other hand, ministerial transfers to other portfolios are expected, perhaps a deviation for some from the government. The replacement of these ministers is expected to occur with the entry of various members of the New Democracy parliamentary group, mainly in positions of vice ministers.

He wants to give the government a political character

In any case, according to information in the last hours, it is said that the prime minister is determined to give the government more political character, by appointing deputies and removing those extra-parliamentary executives who turned out to be below expectations.

Changes are also expected to be made to the Maximos Palace. This is because it is not ruled out that some of the “executives” could be transferred to ministries and others simply removed completely or used in other sectors of the state.

Likewise, it is not ruled out that there may be changes in communication personnel, without this meaning that so far there has been no satisfaction with their effectiveness. There is the possibility that some people will move to other ministries, which will result in gaps that will need to be filled.

Finally, support is expected from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as everything shows that the new year will be particularly critical in national affairs. This is the reason why ND MPs who know Greek-Turkish relations and have raised the burden of communication all this time to strengthen the efforts of Nikos Dendias are not excluded.

In any case, whenever the reorganization is announced, it will be a matter of substance and it will be restarted.
