A family tragedy occurred at 2:30 pm in Renti when a police officer accidentally shot and fatally wounded his 41-year-old wife inside their home on Mandilara Street.
The incident occurred while her 12-year-old son was at her side.
According to the information collected so far, compiled by the Attica Security Department of Crimes Against Life, this is an accident, as the police officer, serving at ELAS headquarters, allegedly tried to secure his pistol on duty, but he had a bullet in the chamber and the bullet hit the woman in the shoulder, who a few minutes later succumbed to her wound.
The policeman, according to his colleagues, had taken the weapon from his service, in case he needed it, due to the surveillance for the anniversary of the Polytechnic.
Tomorrow the police officer will be taken to the prosecutor in Piraeus.
