Mr. Staikouras explained that the repayable advance is only one of the measures to support the economy. “In 2020 we gave 24,000 million euros and in 2021 another 7,500 million will be allocated, that is, between 31 and 32,000 million of all the support measures of society, all the money that we receive from the Recovery Fund in the coming years. These are social assistance measures that will be financed with the country’s cash, with money that has started from Europe (Sure program), with our access to markets with extremely low borrowing costs and with the money that the Fund will disburse. in the first half of 2021 ”, he explained.

“Through the Refundable Advance, up to now 3,400 million euros have been delivered to more than 150,000 companies and especially the 3rd one has been destined to the islands and the most needy tourism in summer. In Samos alone, 891 companies received 11 million last month. The Refundable will continue in 2021, we judge that the measure has paid off and will extend it as necessary. For the Puente program, he commented that starting next week the state will pay up to 90% of the fees of the reported borrowers affected by the pandemic and up to 80% of the red borrowers. “For the first time, the country also rewards consistency,” he said.
