Your international leader Government of Recognized National Accord (GNA) Libya’s Fayez al-Saraj announced tonight (09/16) that he intends to hand over power at the end of October, state television reported.
Saraj announced her intention to resign in a televised speech. The Saraj government is based in Tripoli, while eastern Libya and much of the south are controlled by General Khalifa Haftar.
A few minutes before, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu says Turkish and Russian officials are close to an agreement on a ceasefire in Libya. but also the continuation of the political process.
It is recalled that Bloomberg transmitted on Tuesday that the resignation of Fayez al-Saraj is expected. The publication even stated that he will remain in his post until negotiations for the formation of a new government are completed next month. Later, however, Sputnik reported that the GNA denied reports that Fayez al-Saraj had resigned, citing misinformation.
