A great effort is being made to reach Greece earlier than originally planned by the first French Rafale fighters.
According to the SKAI report, the goal is to receive the first six fighters used in January 2021. The schedule anticipates that the six new Rafals will arrive at the 114th Battle Wing in the spring and the collection will be completed in the summer with the last six used. A total of 14 single-seat and 4 two-seater combat aircraft will arrive in Greece.
In January, a group of pilots and pilots are expected to travel to France for training and then return to Athens with French trainers to establish a Rafal Pilot Training Center at the 114th Battle Wing in Tanagra.
Athens requests that all aircraft be of the F3R version, which means that they will be able to carry all the weapons that the Air Force has in its arsenal, as well as Meteor missiles if supplied. This is the comparative advantage of this fighter jet over other types of aircraft owned by the Turkish Air Force.
Charles de Gaulle ready to sail
At the same time, French television broadcast that the aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle”, the flagship of the French Navy, is ready to set sail from Toulon for a mission in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Its mission is not specified, but in the past French officials did not rule out the possibility of being in southern Crete and the Libyan region.
