The new rules in schools.
The return of the members of the school community to the schools is carried out with the necessary protection measures, which have been provided by EODY and the Ministry of Education, the observation of the distance of 1.5 meters being the most basic.
To reduce congestion during the arrival and departure of students to school, the regular meeting in the courtyard will not take place before the start of the program. Students will go directly to the classroom. The maximum number of students allowed per class is 15 and the distance between students sitting at desks must be 1.5 meters. Classrooms are divided into two and students will go to school in rotation. Monday – Wednesday – Friday will be half way and Tuesday – Thursday the other half, while next week it will be the other way around. Small sections (up to 15 people) will be able to operate daily.
According to the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, 66% of the departments of the third GEL secondary school will teach daily and not in rotation, because these departments have less than 15 students and there is no need to divide the departments. The corresponding percentage of the departments of the 3rd EPAL high school is 74%.
Regarding the design of the corridors, the relevant circular stipulates that the desks will have a common orientation and the students will sit one by one at the desk and, alternatively, on the left and right sides of the desk, not one behind the other.
Of course, the ventilation of the classrooms will be carried out and it is planned to clean them twice a day.
Rest will be different from now on. Students will not take a single break and there is also a gradual exit in order, while each class will have a different space on the patio.
Ball games (for example, volleyball, basketball, soccer) are prohibited and dining rooms will be closed.
Equipment
According to EODY, each school unit must have the protection of students and teachers as a priority with the following:
- Antiseptic alcoholic solutions for each class.
- Wet cream soap for toilets
- Bath hand towels where possible
- Common cleansers and disinfectants suitable for cleaning.
- Surfaces with antiviral action (homemade bleach and alcoholic solutions with at least 70% alcohol)
- Surgical and non-medical masks (for emergencies)
- Gloves, mainly for cleaning personnel, as well as for other emergencies.
- EODY protocol for cases
- To manage any symptoms that occur in a member of the school community, the relevant EODY protocol will be activated, based on the monitoring process and with qualifications depending on each case.
If a student becomes ill with coronary heart disease, the school is not closed. Classmates in the same neighborhood are expected to be out of school for 10 days. As long as they don’t show any suspicious symptoms, they will return. As for the student who may be ill, they are expected to return to school after 3 days from the onset of fever and the remission of their symptoms, as well as the passage of at least 10 days from the onset of symptoms.

For Special Schools, the suspension of the operation has been extended.
Tuition centers are also opening
Finally, with regard to the operation of educational centers, the gradual reopening of educational levels will continue, as is the case of schools, necessarily observing preventive measures (distance of 1.5 meters between students and 15 students per department) . Classes at the 3rd Lyceum will start tomorrow, Monday, May 11, while classes at the Lyceum and Gymnasium A ‘, B’, as well as the foreign language courses will resume on May 18. However, the ministry recommends continuing the courses through distance learning.
Vehicles and routes to MMM are increasing
Passenger traffic is expected to increase from tomorrow on public transport, as, among other things, some 156,000 citizens will return to work.
According to the Ministry of Transport, vaccination routes will continue to be introduced during peak hours on the bus and metro lines, which will see more traffic, exhausting the available means. More than 1,000 vehicles take to the streets of Athens, and on the Metro the distance will be further reduced, especially during rush hour.
The 300 passenger assistants continue their operations, and will be in May at the 45 most important Metro bus stations to help manage the public of passengers, reminding them to wear a mask and keep their distance.
In addition, on all Metro docks and on all trains, as well as on all buses and trolleybuses, a sign has been placed on the floor, to remind you to keep your distance and seats, as a sign to seat passengers in which they are allowed to sit. , so that the distances are always kept as high as possible. They are checked daily, so that in case the special markings peel off, they can be replaced, while putting on even more.
In addition, a protective divider has already been installed between the driver and the passenger compartment on buses and trolleybuses.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the installation of protection dividers in all vehicles will be completed on Monday, May 18.
Please note that entry to buses and trolleybuses is not made through the driver’s door.
Regarding disinfections, the Ministry of Transport indicates that they will continue even more intensively and are now carried out outdoors, at bus stops. Measures are being taken, such as disinfecting the subway, tram and tram stations every night with clouds, and cleaning the stations with a chlorine solution. Employees of all public transport in Athens and Thessaloniki, who come into contact with the public, have received all the necessary personal protective equipment.
It is remembered that in cab two passengers are now allowed, in addition to the driver, as it is understandable that couples, for example, can move together.
