POEDIN talks about a great spread of the coronavirus in one of the pathological clinics of the Gennimatas hospital in Athens.
One pathology clinic now serves Gennimata hospital after extensive dispersal to the other pathology clinic, as POEDIN president Michalis Giannakos complained.
Specifically, according to Mr. Giannakos, Attica Gennimatas Hospital has three pathology clinics and one has been transformed into a coronavirus clinic and patients arriving at the hospital are treated by two clinics.
One has been turned into a coronavirus clinic and patients arriving at the hospital are seen by two clinics.
“In one clinic there was a great spread of the virus between patients and staff. About 14 hospitalized patients fell ill with coronavirus and more than 8 colleagues, of which 6 nurses and 2 doctors. The patients who fell ill were transferred to the clinic of coronavirus of the hospital where they are being treated. The pathological clinic with the cases is closed and the hospital is attended by a single clinic, “he emphasizes.
“We have repeatedly pointed out the dangers of spreading the virus in hospitals because not all admitted patients are screened. Also, many hospitals do not have a molecular analyzer and the results are slow. They process the admission of patients with rapid tests that deceive “Periodic preventive tests are not carried out on personnel,” he adds.
“Positive colleagues return to work in 14 days as long as they have no symptoms,” he concludes.
