Play offs – Cup: VAR plan and strict security protocol | Super League 1

There is (again) in the last few days a discussion / process regarding the referees in the playoffs (when they start and in a logical sense that we are going for June) and whether they should be strictly Greek or foreign. In the EPO, there are generally two … poles on this issue.

One is that Greek arbitrators should receive more support than ever and that in several cases they have proven to be superior to foreigners. But the second is that foreign referees give more confidence, an image of reliability but also less … complaints and fewer protests from players and teams. At this stage of the formula for foreign referees in playoffs, there is a key question: how. This is perhaps the most basic problem.

Therefore, the KED / EPO will wait to see the conditions of travel and travel in Europe (for the sake of irony) and the framework that will be created to end on the issue of foreigners. And you will not see this now but in the near future. One scenario could be that the Balkan referees come because of the distance. But what is needed is safety and health. So KED will weigh all the data before it ends up somewhere. There is no final decision, but there are indications that there are foreign referees in the playoffs.

Now about VAR. The plan is, according to sources from sources close to the EPO, any game of the playoffs or play outside it can be done or even the Cup will be all with VAR. Everything is evaluated as very important so that the VAR always fails, of course, with the health protocol, which should also exist with the Greek referees. In other words, there will be VAR and it will be implemented with a strict security protocol.
