Paris summons Chinese ambassador after comments on handling pandemic in Western countries

The French chancellor summoned the Chinese ambassador today after a second article was published on the Chinese embassy website, criticizing Western countries’ handling of the new crown crisis.

“Some of the opinions expressed by the representatives of the Chinese embassy in France are incompatible with the quality of relations between our two countries,” Jean-Yves Ledrian said in a statement issued by the French foreign minister.

The latest comments posted on the embassy’s website, saying western countries had allowed their elders to die in nursing homes, were made after France ordered millions of Chinese masks to address the country’s shortage.
