With a crushing defense and Nemanja Nedovic having an orgy in the last period, Panathinaikos OPAP beat Fenerbahce (82-68) at home and achieved two victories in four games. The shamrock showed tremendous fighting spirit on the back of the court, annulled Nado de Colo’s choices in creation and execution, and celebrated a great victory, mainly from a psychological point of view, at OAKA.

Or MVP
Very quickly, Nemanja Nedovic showed that he is doing well. He made the effort, put the bell at the end of the first period, but mostly he did the work he had to do in the last. With consecutive points of their own, Panathinaikos stayed ahead and finally celebrated the great victory at home against Fenerbahce. He also made a career record with all seven (7) triples he scored! He had a total of 28 points with 2/5 two points, 7/12 three points, 3/4 shots, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 (!) Blocks.
THE WEAK LINK
Panathinaikos OPAP’s defense against Nando De Colo was excellent. Giorgos Vovoras switched four players on him, pressuring him on the pick and roll and in his own defense, with the Fenerbahce star staying very low. In the 28’13 ” he played, he had 5 points with 1/4 of two points, 1/4 of three points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 4 errors.
THE STATISTICS THAT stood out
The 38.7% in the triples definitely played a role for Panathinaikos, but above all the decisive factor was the superiority in the rebounds (38 against 29) and especially the only 6 forwards given to Fenerbahce.
THE RACE
From the first minute, the tension that Panathinaikos OPAP put on defense made Fenerbahce uncomfortable. The Giorgos Vovoras players smashed all the screens with force, they had a hand on the ball and that is why they did not take long to take the lead. The +8 (15-7) from the greens forced Igor Kokoskov to call for a very quick time-out, with the Fenerbahce coach constantly making changes to find a working five.
In practice, however, he did nothing, at the same time as he and his bench constantly yelled at the referees for their decisions. The visitors saw the gap grow even further (26-15 in 12 ‘), with Nemanja Nedovic in the title role, Howard Sand Ross on exemplary defenses and Jacques Auguste scoring again and again after his own offensive rebounds.
The Turkish moan towards the referees brought three technical penalties, two of them to Igor Kokoskov, which resulted in his expulsion at 3’37 ” by the end of the second half (Erdem Jan was the one who took charge of it since then) . The difference remained close to ten points until the end of the second period, which found Panathinaikos OPAP at +7 (37-30).
An advantage that was mainly due to the great defensive effort of the team and the -more- correct decisions in the front of the field.
The third period had two major contradictions, as Fenerbahce started better, but Panathinaikos OPAP was the one that closed the tenth minute ahead. The visitors could have seen Jan Veseli go fast on the bench with three fouls, but they distributed the ball correctly and brought the game to a perfect balance (43-43 in 24 ‘). Two fast baskets by Nemanja Nedovic and Aaron White cut the Turkish rhythm, the clover regained its balance and attack, so it did not lose the advantage.
The Greens quickly met again at +9 (54-45 in 27 ‘), and closed the third quarter at +6 (62-56) thanks to a nail from Jacques August.
In the latter period, the fact that the clover played astonishing defenses in the first three minutes practically nullified the guests’ chances of achieving victory. And when Nemanja Nedovic scored great triples, it was all over. Panathinaikos OPAP was not substantially threatened from minute 33 onwards, reaching victory (82-68), the second in four games this year in the Euroleague.
