The letter:
We have just been notified of an invitation to a meeting of the Super League 1 Board of Directors for tomorrow, Friday 04.09.2020 at 12:30 pm, with the items on the agenda:
1. Approval of a concise career program.
2. Problems with the championship draw.
3. Championship problems.
4. Relations with EPO.
5. Various.
Following your invitation and in the spirit of the fourth item on the agenda, we would like to raise an additional topic for the Board to discuss as well:
Lately we have witnessed a repeated and systematic disregard of the decisions of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative by the Hellenic Football Federation: be it the decision of the Cooperative regarding the sanctions of the unlicensed teams of the Super League Championship 1, or the Issues of the restructuring of the leagues, either on the issue of the start date of the league – which was initially accepted by the Federation, or on the issues of the Regulations relating to professional football, the result is always the The same: the decisions of our Cooperative are ignored by an Executive Committee composed mainly of people who have nothing to do with football as a whole, and much less with professional football.
At the same time, professional football and especially the Super League 1 teams are almost the exclusive economic blood donors of the EPO and football in general, since the EPO has imposed all kinds of contributions, quotas and “increases” on us. , such as the percentages of the contracts of footballers and coaches, the percentages of the transfer price, the television rights of our teams, and even the cost that we have to pay to obtain from the EPO Changes for the transfers of footballers that are now made all electronically! It would not be an exaggeration to say that the Federation is an organization that survives professional football and at the same time at the expense of professional football, sucking it financially, to pay gold to certain golden boys.
Therefore, it is obvious that the current football governance system is a failure and a dead end. And in no case does it serve the interests of professional football – and of our Cooperative, by extension – which essentially finances and maintains football in Greece without being able to determine with its own decisions the issues that exclusively concern it.
We believe that the conditions are ripe for us as a Cooperative to insist and request the full autonomy of the EPO de Fútbol Profesional de la Superliga 1 in terms of operation and organization, and more specifically:
– All organizational, regulatory and operational issues of the SL1 championship
– The functioning of all the Disciplinary Committees of the SL1 Championship
– The SL1 Professional Soccer Refereeing
And any matter related to the organization and operation of our championship.
This model is followed by almost all the advanced European championships and the most competitive European leagues and is the last hope to save our league / product from complete devaluation, so that all our investments have a response and perspective.
For this reason, we ask you to raise as a topic for discussion at tomorrow’s Board of Directors meeting the issue of the full functional and organizational autonomy of professional football from the control of the Hellenic Football Federation as specified above.
