On October 28, 1943, in the middle of World War II, the United States Navy, following Einstein’s theoretical principles, destroyed an entire ship with its crew in Philadelphia and returned it to its position in a matter of minutes.
This is the famous “Philadelphia Experiment” which probably never happened and the whole story is an urban legend.
The so-called experiment, which aimed to make war invisible through the enemy, was first discovered by astronomer and ufologist Maurice Jessup. On January 13, 1955, he received a letter from Carlos Allende, who revealed that he was an eyewitness to the shipwreck. Jessup continued to correspond with his informant, who later changed his name to Carl Allen. According to the book by James Mosley and Cark Flock, published in 2002, Jessap continued his investigation into the incident, but died in 1959, after being seriously injured in a car accident.
Several authors and researchers have dealt with the case, but the most famous and influential work is the book “The Philadelphia Experiment” by American authors Charles Burlitz and William Moore, published in 1979 (in Greek for “Orora”). According to the two authors, the story begins in the 1920s, when Albert Einstein completed the “unified field theory”, according to which gravity is related to electricity and magnetism. Einstein, wanting to test his theory, collaborated with the US Army in the so-called “Philadelphia Experiment”.
Around October 28, 1943, the destroyer “US Eldridge” with its crew disappeared using electromagnetic fields from Naval Base Philadelphia and appeared at Naval Base Norfolk in Virginia, 350 miles from its base. Soon after, he returned to Philadelphia in the same invisible way. And all this in just a few minutes, when a normal trip from Philadelphia to Virginia and Tuba would take at least 24 hours.
The electromagnetic field stretched out a hundred meters from each end of the ship. It was shaped like a bullet around the destroyer. Each of the sailors and officers on board the ship ceased to see himself and his companions, while anyone outside the sphere of the magnetic field could see nothing but the general shape of the ship as in thick fog. .
After completing the experiment, Einstein realized that humanity was not ready to accept such knowledge, which would change his idea of space, and he destroyed his notes. According to the authors, the United States Navy was forced to abandon the operation because some of the ship’s crew were burned, others disappeared, and others went insane.
What is interesting is that the ship that participated in the alleged experiment, the American Eldridge, was handed over to the Greek Navy, in the context of American aid, and was renamed “Leon”. He took office in 1951 and was discharged in 1992. “León” was always accompanied by strange stories and rumors. It is rumored that during exercises on the Ionian in the 1950s it disappeared for two days or that parts of the ship were sealed off for no apparent reason. Many sailors serving on the ship are also said to have unexplained psychological and neurological problems.
