Despite the fact that two weeks have passed since the blockade, the rates in northern Greece remain high.
In fact, it seems that the situation in the co-capital is getting worse despite the closure, especially at a time when the situation in the ICU is marginal.
The government spokesman attributed this to the fact that some are still behaving more relaxed than imposing conditions.
In fact, in northern Greece it is clear that it is not yet a question of lifting the blockade, since even today new measures were announced to limit the spread.
New measures in northern Greece
Specifically, the measures announced today for northern Greece are as follows:
- The land border at Krystallopigi closes starting tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. The borders of Kakavia, Evzoni and Promachonas remain open.
- Those who enter our country from the land border must undergo a rapid test, in addition to the molecular test that must be carried out 72 hours before arriving in Greece.
- Controls will be strengthened in northern Greece both on the movement of citizens and in the workplace.
Availability to order private clinics
Stelios Petsas highlighted that the pressure on the national health system will continue in the coming days, as the results of the previous weeks are now shown.
“The addition of new beds in the ICU continues, while there is always availability to request, if necessary, beds in private clinics, additional medical personnel are hired and available personnel with rapid training are used to help our intensivists. It is understood that under conditions of war, such as the one we are facing, the country functions as a single health region, “he added, adding that after the daily announcements of effective vaccines, we see a ray of light. We know that this global adventure will come to fruition. finish.
The negative records that set off the alarm
The fact that northern Greece is in a state of absolute alarm was proven yesterday by the EODY information, as Thessaloniki once again received a “black” advantage in the distribution of cases.
According to the distribution of cases, of the 3,209 cases announced by EODY, 905 were located in the co-capital, while 564 in Attica.
Additionally, 207 are found in Larissa, 166 in Pella, 111 in Imathia and 101 in Kilkis.
A “murmur” of the 100 cases is Drama with 95.
The number of ICU hospitalizations in Thessaloniki exceeded 200
At the same time, the coercive battle is being fought in the co-capital, since of the 3,500 thousand patients that are being treated in the country, more than 1,500 are in the hospitals of the city.
The health forces, although they continue to fight each day more to care for the thousands of patients now in hospitals, they have already reached their limits.
Also across Macedonia, of the 1204 existing covid-19 single beds, 895 are occupied, while now only 8 people will find an intensive care unit, as out of 126 out of 134 someone is fighting for their life.
In total, in northern Greece, Macedonia and Thrace, 259 coronavirus patients are being treated by intubation in the ICU, while yesterday 160 admissions were made to hospitals in Thessaloniki.
Furthermore, despite the fact that in the last two days, 20 additional ICU covid beds were added to the Thessaloniki hospitals, reaching 211, of which not even 10 are available now.
Plan for patient transport by train and plane is ready
Due to the unprecedented pressure, the plan to transfer patients to the ICUs of other hospitals in the country is ready.
In case of need for massive transfers to other hospitals, there is a plan to transfer patients by train.
In fact, TRAINOSE has requested that a train be available in Thessaloniki to transport more COVID patients to Attica hospitals.
According to the GR Times, the train has already arrived in Thessaloniki and work is already underway to configure the 4 carriages for the mass transport of coronavirus patients.
The train consists of a total of 4 coach-type cars, a dining car and a coupe car, while it is located at the NS Station in Thessaloniki in a place where the transport of patients can be done more easily and safely.
According to information from in.gr, the wagons were examined by EKAB executives in order to see if they can be set up in patient accommodation areas and to support medical devices and consequently the safe transport of patients.
In each case, the competent bodies have examined all the possibilities and all the options in case patients need to be transferred from the co-capital to Athens.
So far, two of the 4 train cars are ready.
In addition, in order to decongest the system, the transport of patients to Attica in C-130 aircraft has been approved from the outset.
Air transport is the first option of the competent bodies, in case all ICU beds in Thessaloniki are exhausted.
This is because each plane can contain up to three special capsules that will be connected to medical devices.
Thus, the patient will be transported quickly and safely to a referral hospital in Attica.
Alarm in a nursing home in Thessaloniki – 20 cases found
Today the alarm was also raised in a nursing home in Thessaloniki since, as it became known, 17 elderly people and three employees tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to a post from grtimes.gr, the president of Pontian Ladies’ Care, Anatoli Dimitriadou, explained that the cases were identified during the periodic check-up that is carried out with diagnostic tests every week.
According to Ms Demitriadou, the measures are carefully observed in the specific unit for the care of the elderly. That is why, he added, there have been no cases so far, not even during the first wave of the pandemic.
The elderly who tested positive have been transferred to a ward of the Diamantideio Refuge which, in the absence of beds in the city’s hospitals, has essentially become a hospital that meets all the necessary specifications, while the remaining 33 inmates do not present problems. that they have not changed anything in their daily life.
The three workers, who also tested positive, have been isolated in their homes and have no health problems.
According to information from GRTimes.gr, those responsible for the Care of the Pontian Knights and Diamantideio Stegi are in constant contact with EODY for the fulfillment of the measures but also for the care of the patients.
Larissa’s ICUs are also running out
At the same time and according to onlarissa in Larissa, there is no empty bed in the ICU, while in the 5th RAE the highest percentage of occupancy in ICU is registered at the national level.
For the current vigil after receipt of 4 respirators and special equipment, it is expected that new ICU beds will be developed, bringing the total number of ICU beds in the University Hospital to 24.
