Furthermore, despite the fact that in the last two days, 20 additional ICU covid beds were added to the Thessaloniki hospitals, reaching 211, of which not even 10 are available now.
Plan for patient transport by train and plane is ready
Due to the unprecedented pressure, the plan to transfer patients to the ICUs of other hospitals in the country is ready.
In case of need for massive transfers to other hospitals, there is a plan to transfer patients by train.
In fact, TRAINOSE has requested that a train be available in Thessaloniki to transport more COVID patients to Attica hospitals. 
According to the GR Times, the train has already arrived in Thessaloniki and work is already underway to configure the 4 carriages for the mass transport of coronavirus patients.
The train consists of a total of 4 coach-type cars, a dining car and a coupe car, while it is located at the NS Station in Thessaloniki in a place where the transport of patients can be done more easily and safely.
According to information from in.gr, the wagons were examined by EKAB executives in order to see if they can be set up in patient accommodation areas and to support medical devices and consequently the safe transport of patients.

Air transport is the first option of the competent bodies, in case all ICU beds in Thessaloniki are exhausted.
This is because each plane can contain up to three special capsules that will be connected to medical devices.
Thus, the patient will be transported quickly and safely to a referral hospital in Attica.
Alarm in a nursing home in Thessaloniki – 20 cases found
Today the alarm was also raised in a nursing home in Thessaloniki since, as it became known, 17 elderly people and three employees tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to a post from grtimes.gr, the president of Pontian Ladies’ Care, Anatoli Dimitriadou, explained that the cases were identified during the periodic check-up that is carried out with diagnostic tests every week.
According to Ms Demitriadou, the measures are carefully observed in the specific unit for the care of the elderly. That is why, he added, there have been no cases so far, not even during the first wave of the pandemic.
The elderly who tested positive have been transferred to a ward of the Diamantideio Refuge which, in the absence of beds in the city’s hospitals, has essentially become a hospital that meets all the necessary specifications, while the remaining 33 inmates do not present problems. that they have not changed anything in their daily life. 
The three workers, who also tested positive, have been isolated in their homes and have no health problems.
