The Macedonian Post apologized and removed a series of stamps depicting the map of the fascist “Independent State of Croatia” in the period 1941-1945, with land belonging to Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We apologize and regret the inadvertent error and technical omissions in the publication of the stamp series “North Macedonia in the EU”, which coincides with May 9, Europe Day. Our aim with this seal was to express our gratitude to the Croatian Presidency of the EU for the assistance and support provided by the Republic of Croatia in our country, “reads a statement issued by the Macedonian Post.
It was preceded by a backlash from the Serbian Foreign Ministry, which earlier in the day protested at the North Macedonian Embassy in Belgrade over the series of stamps and called on the Skopje authorities to withdraw.
