New York woke up today to a thick layer of snow, the guarantee of an epic snowball fight in Central Park, after a snowstorm that caused chaos in the northeastern United States and further damaged the atmosphere of restaurants .
The snowstorm hit many states for 24 hours, but the clouds gradually dissipated starting at noon today. In some areas, upstate New York, snow topped the subway. In most large cities, however, it did not exceed 10 to 20 cm.
At least six people died, most in one of the thousands of traffic accidents in the area.
The US authorities assured that the storm is not affecting the distribution of vaccines for Covid-19 that began last weekend.
In New York, snow plows opened up city boulevards while janitors cleaned the sidewalks. In Central Park, the lung of Manhattan, early in the morning some daredevils went skiing, taking advantage of the fact that it is the first time in five years that so much snow has fallen in the city.

South of the Metropolitan Museum, Cypress Hill was filled with families with young children having fun in the snow. “It’s a nice break to be able to go out and do an activity.” Right now, with the pandemic, there’s not much that can be done, “said a father, John Wilcox, who was playing in the snow with his 10-year-old son.
Most of the children, however, have been forced to stay at home: their schools are closed, but distance learning continues normally.
Also for restaurants, bad weather should not continue. Due to the snowfall, the municipality temporarily prohibited outdoor customer service. “It’s another setback” said Fnu Dendi, manager of a Japanese restaurant on the Upper West Side.
