His life was marked by a distinguished physician in New York who was at the forefront of the United States-led battle with the new settler.
According to the BBC, this is the 49-year-old Dr. Laura Brin, who was director of emergency services at Presbyterian Allen Hospital in Manhattan.
Police say the 49-year-old doctor died of self-harm Sunday.
“He was trying to do his job and he killed her,” the doctor’s father told the New York Times.
A doctor himself, Dr. Brin said that his daughter had no history of psychological problems. She died in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she lived with her family.
During her work, Dr. Brin became infected with the coronavirus but returned to work after a week and a half of recovery, her father added.
The hospital sent her back to her home before her family “intervened” and took her with her to Charlottesville, she said.
He said the last time they spoke he was “distant” and told him that the Covid-19 patients were dying before being transported by ambulance to the hospital.
According to the New York Times, Dr. Lorna Brin was a devout Christian with close ties to her family. A passionate skier and lover of salsa, she volunteered once a week in a nursing home.
Police Chief Russell Brackney said in a statement: “Frontline health professionals and first aid workers are not immune to the mental and physical effects of this pandemic. These professionals work in the most stressful and daily conditions and the settler has added more stress. “
New York has recorded 17,500 of the 56,000 deaths in the United States. At the 200-bed hospital, where Dr. Brin, dozens of patients have been diagnosed with the disease.
