In the last 24 hours, EL.AS applies a new tactic to control unnecessary movements.
Since last Friday, in particular, police officers from the Traffic Accident Prevention and Control Teams (OEPTA) have been carrying out the so-called “comprehensive inspections”. That is, they completely stop traffic on the main roads of the capital and control all drivers without exception, if they have the necessary documents for their circulation.
The points where specific blocks are erected constantly alternate and take place at different times of the day.
Yesterday, as an indication, OEPTA police carried out controls in Vas. Sofias, Katehaki, Omonia Square, while in the following days it is expected that controls will be carried out on the periphery of the center.

Increase in cases again
Yesterday, EODY announced 2,199 new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease and 111 deaths. Most of the new cases reported yesterday were found again in Thessaloniki (538), while 413 new diagnoses were made in the Attica region. The epidemic persists in Larissa (112 new cases), while the epidemiological burden is consistently high in Pella (85 cases), Drama (81), Xanthi (72), Magnesia (70) and Imathia (66).

However, the pressure remains intense in the country’s hospitals and mainly in northern Greece, both in the hospitals of the city of Thessaloniki, where although there is a slight decrease in new admissions, the situation remains marginal in the ICU, as well as in neighboring prefectures.
