New blows, which were followed by loud explosions, shook today Stepanakert, the capital of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, where clashes are raging between Armenian separatists and Azerbaijani forces, according to AFP reporters.

At around 09.30 (local time, 08.30 Greek time) the air defense sirens sounded in the city, just before the explosions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the self-proclaimed republic of Nagorno-Karabakh announced that it was “Rocket launch”, according to the Russian agency Interfax.

In recent days, the city has been subjected to many such bombings, forcing residents to go to basements and shelters for safety. From Saturday night to Sunday, Stepanakert has no electricity.

According to the separatist Foreign Ministry, Azerbaijani forces “attacked the construction of the electricity grid” last night.

In the city center, the damage was limited, however, a French Agency team confirmed, before the blows that occurred this morning.

For his part, Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense reported that “Armenian forces fired rockets at the cities of Tartar and Horandiz, in the Fizuli region, from Hankendi,” the Azerbaijani name for Stepanakert.

“The Azerbaijani army retaliated against the enemy,” the ministry said.
