The Greek will be the new European drone suitable for more effective border surveillance, tracking high-value targets and identifying threats.

Intracom Defense (IDE) signed a € 9.7 million grant agreement with the European Commission to finance the LOTUS – Low Observable Tactical Unmanned System program, which was approved last July, following an evaluation by a Committee of Experts from The EU. E., within the framework of the European Defense Industrial Development Program (EDIDP – European Defense Industrial Development Program).

The program refers to “European Tactical Unmanned Aircraft”, which has a number of innovative features, such as:

-It is not detected by enemy forces due to its stealth design
-ability to operate at great distances and away from enemy threats
-Transmissibility and interoperability based on NATO standards
-reliable telecommunications
-use of artificial intelligence algorithms
– cybersecurity and scalability

The uniqueness of LOTUS lies in the fact that similar features cannot be retrofitted into older technology systems, giving it a strong competitive advantage.

The LOTUS program builds on the knowledge and experience gained from previous projects in which IDE participated with its key partners, such as the drone:

-HCUAV, for which successful flight tests have already been carried out
-DELAER, which is expected to conduct flight tests next year.

LOTUS is a unique opportunity for Greece to demonstrate its capacity in the production of cutting-edge technologies, in the manufacture of composite materials and in the implementation of secure communications, as well as in the coordination of national and foreign partners by public and private bodies. .

The LOTUS program will be implemented by a joint venture led by IDE and partners from Greece (IDE, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, ALTUS, CFT, University of Patras and the Air Aviation General Staff Telecommunications and Electronic Media Factory, Cyerixen Cyprus, Cyprus ), Spain (Embention) and the Netherlands (RHEA Group).

The Ministry of National Defense, through its participation in the program, acquires the opportunity to implement the operational requirements specified by its services, to plan in five years the independence of the country from uncontrolled critical systems and to soon acquire a Greek system of coverage. of your confirmed needs in the most effective way.
