The move out of the prefecture remains in effect until Carnival Monday, as part of the second blockade.

THE.AS. Intensive checks are expected every three days in order to find unnecessary travel violations, while police blockades are also expected at tolls for those who try to leave the prefecture without the necessary documents.

However, trips outside the prefecture will be allowed only for specific cases and there will only be some exceptions, as announced by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias.

Who can move

The following are excluded from the travel ban outside the prefecture:

  • Travel outside the prefecture for citizens who work in a different prefecture than their residence.
  • Traveling outside the prefecture for health reasons, upon presentation of a medical certificate
  • Traveling outside of the prefecture for a ceremony (eg, funeral of a first or second degree relative), which is certified by a written statement
  • Travel outside the prefecture for divorced parents or parents who are in a dimension that is necessary to ensure communication between parents and children, in accordance with current regulations.
  • Transfer out of the prefecture to go to the place of permanent residence, with the certificate of residence for special use from the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) or with the E1
  • Travel outside the prefecture for students, which requires proof of primary residence and a document from the School to return to it.
  • Moving out of the prefecture in order to collect agricultural products.

In all other cases, travel outside the prefecture is prohibited and violators must pay an administrative fine of 300 euros for each violation.
