Negative record with 372 new cases – Attica, Central Macedonia in the spotlight

The number of daily coronavirus cases in Greece hit a negative record on Thursday.

According to the National Public Health Organization (EODY), during the last 24 hours, 372 new confirmed cases were registered, of which 133 in Attica and 70 in Pella.

At the same time, the death toll rose to four, from 297 so far.

At the same time, 49 patients are hospitalized in the ICU.

Geographic distribution

According to informal information from the Ministry of Health, of the 372 new cases, 164 – about half – are known serotonin. Of these, 114 refer to the food processing industry in Pella and 29 to the recycling industry in Attica. More detail:

The EODY announcement in detail

Today we announce 372 new cases of the new virus in the country, of which 164 are associated with known outbreaks and 21 were detected after controls at the country’s gateways. The total number of cases is 12,452, of which 55.5% are men.

2324 (18.7%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 5511 (44.3%) are related to an already known case.

49 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their average age is 70 years. 12 (24.5%) are women and the rest are men. 87.8% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older. 167 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

Finally, we have 4 more deaths registered and 297 deaths in total in the country. 110 (37.0%) women and the rest men. The mean age of our dying fellow citizens was 78 years and 96.3% had some underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.

Extraordinary measures in four prefectures

It should be noted that shortly before the announcement of today’s cases, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection took special measures in the regional units of Pella, Pieria, Imathia and Kilkis. The measurements refer to the following:

– Prohibition of operation of all health warehouses from 12 at night until 07.00 the next day.

– Suspension of any type of event such as parties, fairs, processions, public markets, etc.

– Prohibition of any type of meeting of citizens over 9 people for any reason, both in public and in private.

– In the dining areas, a maximum number of people at each table is allowed up to 4 people, unless they are first-degree relatives where up to 6 people are allowed.

– Mandatory use of a mask both indoors and outdoors.

The above restrictive measures will be in effect for 14 days, from tomorrow, Friday, September 11, at 6:00 a.m. to Friday, September 25 at 6:00 a.m.

For his part, the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, asked the competent services to intensify the controls in the areas of central Macedonia and make the hospitals of the four mentioned regional units more available.
