After many days of hospitalization in the ICU of the Larissa University Hospital, the renowned obstetrician-gynecologist finished on Monday morning.
Hailing from Farkadona, where he spent a large part of his daily life, Nektarios Halvatzas maintained for many years in Larissa one of the most modern gynecological clinics in Thessaly. Unfortunately, the 49-year-old man, a great man and scientist, tested positive for covid-19 a month and a half ago and, despite the brave battle he fought, he could not bear it.
A statement from the President of the Larissa Medical Association, Konstantinos Giannakopoulos, states the following:
On the occasion of the death of the 49-year-old colleague of the obstetrician-gynecologist Nectarios Halvantzas due to coronavirus, we want to express our deepest condolences to his family, relatives and friends.
At the same time, we wish all your doctors, nurses and other employees of the Health structures who are sick or simply positive for COVID-19, a speedy recovery and a smooth return to their functions, which are nothing more than the battle for the salvation of our fellow citizens. Currently, the health sector is experiencing significant losses, which negatively affects the entire health system while increasing the responsibility of the State to strengthen it at all levels: hiring permanent staff – materials – modern medical equipment – PHC organization – modernization of buildings.
Furthermore, it increases the responsibility of our fellow citizens for self-control and strict compliance with protective and restrictive measures. “
