Mutations

At the same time, genomic analysis was completed on 178 new samples selected for the period from December 29, 2020 to February 3, 2021. The samples come from the Regions of East Macedonia and Thrace, Central Macedonia, Attica and the Peripheral Units of Boeotia. , Lesbos, Macedonia, Laconia, Karditsa and Larissa. In all samples tested, all met the strict quality criteria required for analysis and the final test was successfully completed.

A total of 94 strains with variants of interest emerged from the control. Of the 94 strains, 93 were positive for the British mutation B.1.1.7 / UK lineage (variant VOC_202012) while 1 strain was positive for the South African mutation Lineage B.1.351 / South Africa (variant 501V2).

A total of 495 positive strains have been identified for the presence of lineage B.1.1.7 / UK (variant VOC_202012) and 9 for B.1.351 / South Africa (variant 501V2) since the launch of the National Genomic Surveillance Network for SARS . CoV-2 mutations to date.

The 9 positives for the presence of the B.1.351 / South Africa lineage mutation (variant 501V2) are all domestic cases, of which 7 come from the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki and 2 from the Regional Unit of Ioannina.
