Ministry officials are “in constant communication with electronic communications providers to ensure the smooth operation of fixed and wireless networks during the period of emergency measures to restrict traffic amid the lockdown and commercial activity.”

In this context, the General Directorate of Cybersecurity, in cooperation with the competent services, is in a state of alert to attend to any issue related to the availability and reliability of the country’s critical infrastructure.

For the smooth, uninterrupted and responsible operation of telecommunications networks, the Ministry of Digital Government and the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post recall and recommend:

distance learning and teleworking.

* Give priority to the use of fixed networks to make telephone calls and avoid, if they are not necessary for our communication, video calls.

* Avoid sending large volumes of files without a prior compression process, if possible. We also avoid sending mass emails with large volumes of attachments.

* Keep the software of all the appliances that have Internet access updated, based on the instructions and recommendations of the manufacturers.

* Pay more attention to messages that come from unknown senders that have as their topic the coronavirus and, more generally, health and civil protection issues, as they may contain links that lead to malware.

* Adopt responsible behavior and trust only the instructions of scientists and the National Public Health Agency.

* If we have children, let’s take care of their creative activities, to avoid their attachment to online entertainment services.

* It is also noted that no organization or body, public or private, in Greece will request by phone, SMS, email or social networks, information such as the code used to access a service. Any such communication should be treated as an attempted fraud.
