A 24-hour strike was also declared for the APE-MPE and the General Secretariat for Information. The request of the journalistic unions is to withdraw the provisions of the bill in consultation and initiate a dialogue between the government and all those involved, for the preparation of a bill that will regulate all national and regional television stations.

ESIEA announcement on strike

The Boards of Directors of POESY, POEPTYM and POSPERT within the framework of their IMMEDIATE, IMPOSSIBLE and IMMEDIATE request to withdraw the anti-labor and anti-journalism regulations that the government puts in consultation with the technicians of private television stations nationwide, declares a 24-hour strike in all local television stations in the country, public and private, at ERT SA. ΑΠΕ -ΜΠΕ and ΓΓΕ.

In the midst of a pandemic and Christmas Eve, suddenly and with express processing, the competent Law was put up for consultation by the competent Minister Stelios Petsas, “Incorporation into national legislation of the one modified by Directive (EU) 2018/1808 of Parliament Council, Directive (EU) 2010/13 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of March 10, 2010, on audiovisual media services and other provisions of the General Secretariat for Communication and Information “, which includes provisions that threaten undermining the narrow core of labor relations and resulting in job cuts and massive layoffs.

We remind you that the great demand from the industry for the strengthening of the printed media has been unjustifiably unanswered and meteoric for a year now and now a unilateral attempt is being made and with a deafening absence of dialogue to deal another strong blow to the working conditions of journalists and all employees. who fight, in unprecedented adverse conditions, more strongly and more directly than ever, for the need of the anxious Greek society for objective and reliable information.

The BoD of the Federations express the flagrant protest and categorical opposition of the information industry, to the attempt to dissolve labor relations in the television networks, through a recently introduced “flexibility” model, which will finally lead with mathematical precision to the catalysis of the object. pluralism and free information.

In an industry that is the base and pillar of the Republic, already severely shaken by the 10-year economic crisis and the unprecedented health crisis since the beginning of the year, the bill in consultation is the dangerous new vehicle that will pave the way. for new layoffs. and directly a further contraction to our insurance agency.

The stakes are crucial for the entire Press Sector, as the achievements of 25 years are virtually canceled overnight, turning the already precarious work environment into a minefield of working conditions for media workers. Communication.

The BoD of the Federations and of all employees of the press and media:

WE DEMAND

the immediate withdrawal of all anti-labor provisions of the bill
the beginning of a dialogue between the Government and all those involved, for the elaboration of an autonomous law project that will regulate all the Panhellenic and Regional Television Stations.

WE REACT AGAINST

in all anti-labor regulations and in all promoted interventions that diligently undermine Free Collective Bargaining and Insurance Funds, while degrading the position and rights of employees, but also the right of society to information true and valid.

On this basis, the BoD of the Federations declare a 24-hour strike from 6:00 p.m. today to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday 9-12-2020 in all television stations in the country, public and private, to local level, in ERT SA. to the APE BPE and the General Secretariat of Information with a request to withdraw the anti-labor provisions of the bill under “consultation.”
