THE beheading of a French teacher by an 18-year-old gunman in the Parisian suburb of Conflan-Saint-Honoré was an act of Islamist terrorism, French President Emanuel Macron said.
Macron, who went to the scene of the attack, stressed that France would give a quick and forceful response, adding that the terrorist wanted to attack the Republic.
“The darkness will not prevail,” he said, adding that the terrorists could not divide France.
He even pointed out that the French teacher was killed because he was a teacher and taught freedom of expression.
It is noted that the victim allegedly showed his sketches in his classroom Prophet Muhammad.
Macron said the whole country supports all of its teachers.
According to BFM, the perpetrator was 18 years old and was born in Moscow, while he is said to be of Chechen origin.
Reuters reported that, according to eyewitnesses, the perpetrator screamed Allahu akbar at the time of his heinous act.
According local siteThe municipal police located the victim around 5.30 p.m., in Rene Picard Square, near a school.
The aggressor was still present at the scene and was called to surrender, however, he threatened them with the weapon he was holding and escaped.
The perpetrator was pursued by the police and after receiving fire, he fell dead.
