Closing: the first month of the year is the most critical of the second wave of the pandemic in Greece. The fatigue due to the restrictive measures of the two confinements is great and everyone’s gaze is focused on lifting the measures.
The great mobility of the world causes the spread of the virus and the increase in cases. Our country, which has been under lockdown since the beginning of November, will continue to undergo tests and in fact the next three winter months are probably the most critical, since the relaxation that has been observed lately can bring the third wave of the pandemic, which will give the health system the free shot.
January will be a month of decisions
Thus, on January 4, the Committee of Experts will hold its second relevant teleconference in order to to decide when the schools will reopen, according to the MEGA report.
The dates on the table are January 8 and 11. However, the question is whether all levels will be opened or only the primary ones.
However, the government would like to see all levels reopened, for social reasons.
Also, in the first ten days of the first month of the new year, decisions will be made as to whether there will be a partial opening of retail.
Experts hope to see what the days of Christmas and New Years will be like, that is, how much dispersion and cases will occur after the colorful holidays. Focus decisions will be made at the end of the month.
The fatigue due to the restrictive measures of the two confinements is great and everyone’s gaze is focused on lifting the measures. But that, as everything shows, it will be delayed, since the epidemiological curve is on the tight rope.
Another high number of new cases was announced on New Year’s Day, namely 597, which shows that the reduction of the spread is slow and can change at any time. At the same time, Attica is in the vortex of the pandemic, with the capital registering 365 new cases of the virus.
In the first days of 2021 and specifically on January 4, the government will be called upon to make important decisions for the opening of schools, while it will have to decide on restrictive measures, which expire on the 7th of the month.
However, the extent of the confinement is taken for granted (schools can only open) with experts stressing that epidemiological data does not allow for hasty movements.
