Lockdown: There is division between the government and scientific staff over the measures the prime minister is expected to announce today to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
In particular, according to the information, experts have proposed a series of measures, which were divided into two categories.
On the one hand, there was a part of experts who were in favor of the most tough measures, as some suggested a lock not only in the restaurant, but also in gyms and beauty centers for a few days, in order to reduce cases vertically.
The other side suggested more specific measures mainly focusing on concentrating and banning traffic in the orange zones.
In other words, their goal was to propose stricter measures in the areas just before the red light.
“Bomb” with focus
In particular, the measures that Mr. Mitsotakis is expected to announce will primarily concern the “Orange” areas, in which some measures will be hardened, to resemble those of the “red” level.
So far, as broadcast by MEGA, the decision that has been made is to focus on the “orange” areas, as with the “red” areas.
That is to say focus doesn’t work at all and the curfew from 00:30.
Still, it is expected to be announced Travel ban to and from areas at level 3.
It is recalled that until now this measure was applied in level 4 areas.
Finally, with regard to schools, so far the decision is to operate as it is, at all risk levels on the health map.
The above measures, as reported by MEGA, will come into effect from 06:00 on Saturday and will be valid for one month, however they will be reviewed weekly.
Terrifying predictions of up to 4,000 cases next week
The terrifying prediction that in the next week the cases could reach 3,000 – 4,000 was made by the Professor of Genetics at the University of Geneva, Manolis Dermitzakis, speaking with SKAI.
He argued that the government must take a heavy package of measures with a force of several months, which will be implemented horizontally throughout the country, and not depending on the level of “alarm”, to avoid a generalized lockdown.
“The situation is difficult and we are on growth curves, reminiscent of European curves. Let’s go fast to big numbers. From the moment we see a doubling of cases in 5-7 days, in a week the numbers can reach 3,000-4,000. This means that it is a rapid increase and we cannot do test rounds with measurements and wait to see if they work to get the next ones. That is why in the next few hours the government must take the last and heaviest package of measures before the general shutdown. “We have to overcome the virus,” said Mr. Dermitzakis.
In fact, he advocated for restaurant closures, as well as a traffic ban earlier, across the country.
The professor pointed out that it is a problem to implement measures every week, since the intensity with which citizens assimilate the measures decreases, while on the other hand “development is so fast that we cannot wait.”
