A call to the public to implement measures to reduce the coronavirus, was again attended by Marios Lazanas, specialist in infectious diseases and member of the Expert Committee, commenting on images from SKAI TV of overcrowding that could be sources of over-transmission.
He explained that there is no doubt that in concerts, squares, cafes or secret gatherings, there is no doubt that it can be a source of over-transmission. She wondered how people could finally be convinced and said she really was at a dead end about it.
He stressed that the use of masks should be universal and in the open air and that this is a measure that has been debated in committee but no decisions have been made. He also suggested increasing the number of tests in areas loaded with non-Greek residents in poor condition and with many people, where the virus is easily transmitted.
I think we all want to leave the lockdown measure last, Mr. Lazanas emphasized, adding that the issue of lockdown has not been discussed in the committee. They all added, we are trying to persuade citizens to implement the measures that are in place now.
The infectious disease specialist stressed that obviously the measures have not worked, specifically in Attica since the number of cases and intubated remains high.
According to Mr. Lazanas, the goal is to drastically reduce cases, from 10 to 20 per day would be very satisfactory, but eliminating them is excluded.
He warned that until there is an effective drug, the coronavirus will not go away easily and, sadly, there will be problems in 2021, unless the virus is inactivated as it has with other viruses in the past.
