It was the perfect ending to a fantastic game. A game that found the Nuggets coming back twice from -16 and advancing 103-102 with 20 seconds left in the final thanks to 11 consecutive points from the shocking Nikola Jokic. In the end, however, Davis did speak up, completing an impressive performance, after scoring the Lakers’ last 10 points.
Davis was also the leading scorer, finishing the game with 31 points and 9 rebounds, followed by LeBron James with 26 points and 11 rebounds, with Danny Green and Kentavius Caldwell-Pope adding 11 points each.
For the Nuggets, Jokic had 30 points and 9 assists, Jamal Murray had 25 points and Michael Porter had 15 points.
TERRIBLE GAME
The game began with the Lakers leading and running 29-21 in the first period, before escaping 52-36 in the second and heading to the locker room with a 60-50 lead. But the game still had a long way to go.
The Lakers escaped 70-54 in the third period, proving to punt. Denver, however, reacted and dropped to 82-78 at the end of the third period and led 86-87 in the fourth. The Lakers responded with a partial score of 14-5 and escaped with 100-92, but Nikola Jokic responded with 11 consecutive points, putting Denver ahead 102-103, to follow the beating of Davis.
