Kostis Maravegias appeals to the state through his personal instagram account. The beloved artist asks for sensitivity and finds solutions for the musicians who have been waiting for the summer to work, and emphasizes that “by protecting the musicians today, we are protecting the music and maintaining a dignified life.”
“It just caught our eye then.
We cannot leave destiny at the mercy of those who loved the only language of the soul, to those who were given it, to those who offer the last refuge to their fellow citizens in each quarantine of life (and not only now). We cannot stop thinking about those who spent their childhood and adolescence studying with patience and dedication a musical instrument, those who currently struggle to survive day by day.
Ask yourself: What will happen to those who have been waiting for the summer to work? Musicians, technicians, concert venues with your employees?
I understand that the protection of public health requires that protests are no longer allowed. But that does not mean that musicians should be impoverished. I try to think of a solution, like a debt to myself, my colleagues, and my colleagues.
I warmly ask the Greek state to show sensitivity and rise to the occasion, so that it can immediately propose solutions. Let’s find an alternative way for those in dire need of livelihoods. For those smiling people, who are hard to see and rarely hear. By protecting musicians today, we are protecting music and making life worthwhile. Sincerely, Kostis Maravegias, “Kostis Maravegias wrote characteristically.
