“There will be more pressure on the health system, in the coming days we will see more patients arriving at hospitals,” Elías Mosialos, professor of health policy and director of the LSE, told SKAI.
According to the professor, we make the second block relatively early compared to other countries.
It is done at the same time with other countries much more advanced than us, at a time when the health system is beginning to suffer pressure but has not yet reached its limits, explained the professor.
“There will be more pressure in the coming days, we will see more patients arriving at hospitals. The question is how many will need hospitalization in Intensive Care Units ”, he added.
As Mosialos explains, as long as the lockdown is maintained as planned, it makes sense to see the decompression of the public health system with a lower flow of incidents.
“In my opinion, it is good that it was announced for this period of time and no longer for Lockdown, because we have to measure what is really happening, to see what is the pressure on the health system”, concluded the professor.
According to Mosialos, the catalytic role to get out of the confinement at the end of the month is the great reduction in the number of cases, reaching indicative levels at the end of September-beginning of October.
“We will not return to normality in July and August,” he clarified in any case, emphasizing that now we have the opportunity to stop the momentum of this pandemic in our country.
When asked if it is possible to lead to a “circular phenomenon” where we will enter and exit a brief lockdown depending on the height of the coronary cases to be recorded, Mosialos said this is possible if there is no vaccine early next year. .
Vaccine
According to Mr. Mosialos, announcements about the progress of vaccine research are expected in the very near future.
Based on the above data, according to the professor, at the beginning of next year in Greece we will have some doses of vaccine that will be mainly destined for health but also for vulnerable groups.
