Concern in Pella prefecture as it was recently learned that a double digit number of coronavirus cases was found in a Giannitsa factory.
The alarm came after the first positive cases were detected at the Giannitsa fruit cannery, which employs 680 workers, many of whom are seasonal and live in nearby areas of Imathia, Thessaloniki and Pieria.
According to the information, so far at least 40 cases of coronavirus have been detected in this factory.

According to the local site maxitis.gr, “after the detection yesterday of two cases in citizens of the Agios Georgios settlement in the historic capital of the Paionia municipality and the tracking procedures that followed, eleven more carriers of the virus were discovered in the area of Goumenissa and Griva, bringing the total number to thirteen. ” According to the local website, these are employees of the said Giannitsa factory, while the corresponding tracing process has started and samples from 14 more people have reached the local hospital.
The deputy governor of Kilkis stated, in fact, on the maxitis.gr website that there is a serious possibility for the implementation of a local blockade in the Goumenissa and Griva area.
