Koronovirus: 16 empty ICUs Northern Greece: the image of the ICU in the rest of Greece

Hospitals are at a tipping point, as only 29% of ICU beds are empty. According to the information, there are currently a total of 1,104 ICU beds across the country, of which 781 are occupied and only 323 are vacant.

The ICU-no COVID is currently 608, of which 446 are occupied and 162 vacant (26.5%).

Respectively, of the 496 ICU-COVID, 335 have been covered and only 161 remain free (32.5%).

The situation is tragic in northern Greece, where only 11% of the ICUs for the coronavirus, which serve the needs of Thessaloniki (including the Halkidiki, Katerini and Kavala Hospitals) are empty, a percentage that in absolute terms translates to in 16 beds, in total 148 places.

In Attica hospitals, of the 206 COVID-ICUs, 130 are occupied and 76 are vacant (37%).

Outside the ICU, the total number of beds available nationwide for the treatment of confirmed coronavirus cases is 4,773, while the number of COVID-19 patients currently treated is 2,513 (total ICU, MAF, MEL, chambers of negative pressure and single beds).
