Attica marked the worst epidemiological picture since the start of the new coronavirus pandemic this week, forcing the authorities to impose new emergency measures that will take effect from tomorrow until October 4.

The Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, warned that Attica now registers 3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the situation continues to increase steadily. According to him, the number of cases shows that the problem is localized in specific areas of Attica and especially in specific neighborhoods in the center of Athens.

Attica records the majority of cases every day and according to ERT information, in addition to the center of Athens, there is concern for the municipalities of Piraeus and Kifissia.

The new emergency measures include limiting the number of people to public gatherings, suspending concerts and film screenings, lowering the threshold for participation in social events and telecommuting for 40% of public and private sector workers.

What about telecommuting from tomorrow?

Teleworking is becoming mandatory for 40% of employees in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus since, as noted by Professor Gikas Majorkinis, 29.7% of coronavirus cases are registered in private sector companies.

Employers are obliged to inform about 40% of their employees that they will work with telework, while according to the information, there will be a 24-hour opportunity to inform the information system “Ergani”, for employees who will be put into a state of telework. until October 4.

The measure is applied regardless of the KAD, size and operation of the company..

In the new framework, teleworking can be offered full-time, part-time or part-time, as well as independently or even in combination with employment at the employer’s premises.

The employer is obliged to cover the cost of the equipment and its maintenance. while in the case that the equipment belongs to the worker, the contract must specify how to reimburse its use costs for teleworking.

Consequently, it is convenient to set the additional monthly cost of the equipment, which if not paid by the employer even faces criminal penalties, as well as the cancellation of the teleworking contract.

The employer is also obliged to respect the working hours, which must be specified in writing. Any agreement with the employee on teleworking time limits and response times must also be specified in writing.

According to JMC, the use of a camera to monitor the employee is explicitly prohibited.

Yesterday, the Minister of Labor, Nikos Vroutsis, assured that no changes will be made either in the salary or in the contract of those who work from home.

Arrival and departure in shifts

Support in four waves for those employees who are not telecommuting starting tomorrow at Attica.

Employees’ working hours are mandatorily adjusted at the beginning and end, so that employees come and go in shifts every half hour and within 2 hours.

In any case, adjusting the working day does not change the type of employment contract of the employee or overtime in the private sector.

Three waves of assistance are implemented in the State, at 7:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
