An alarm has been sounded in four towns in the Municipality of Thebes and the Municipality of Chalkida, after a crowd at a funeral, where a positive case of coronavirus was presented.
On Wednesday night, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection issued a strong recommendation for self-protection measures against the coronavirus, as dozens of people gathered at the funeral.
Specifically, the decision was made after an extraordinary meeting at the Civil Protection Operations Center where the data obtained from the follow-up of a 63-year-old native who tested positive for Covid-19 and is being treated at the “NIMTS” hospital was examined. .
The 63-year-old man positive for the virus attended a funeral on Sunday, September 27, in the Boeotian village of Mouriki, along with dozens of residents from other Thebes villages. The president of the Mouriki community, Takis Petrou, speaking on Thursday morning, revealed that relatives of the deceased from several villages had been found at the funeral last Sunday. maybe even more than 200 people and without action being taken.
“Yesterday the lieutenant governor notified us that he was coming with a ladder, that there were cases of coronavirus and that they were actually relatives of the deceased. We don’t know exactly how many people are positive ”, emphasized Takis Petrou.

Strong recommendation
The strong recommendation, directed by Civil Protection, refers to the inhabitants of the following settlements in the municipality of Tebas, Boeotia and the municipality of Chalkida, Evia:
– Mouriki, Platanakia, Ypato and Loutoufi of the Municipality of Tebas of the Regional Unit of Beocia and Loukissia of the Municipality of Chalkida of the Regional Unit of Evia, for the faithful compliance of the following self-protection measures:
- Stay indoors and avoid any unnecessary movement.
- Wear a mask in all areas, indoors and outdoors.
- The absence of students in any school unit of all levels and
- Non-movement of workers from the public and private sectors from these settlements to their work, in order to avoid the risk of dispersion and protect other workers
After consulting with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, a strong recommendation is made to employers, who employ residents of these areas in companies, to accept the absence of employees, without further consequences.
It is observed that as of Thursday morning, four EODY Mobile Health Groups (KOMY) will be located in these settlements, in the local Municipal Warehouses (Mouriki-Platanakia, Ypato, Loutoufi and Loukissia), to carry out sampling controls.
The above strong recommendation is valid until the completion of the control process in the mentioned areas, when a new announcement will be issued.
