Preparations for the arrival of vaccines in the country and the first vaccinations against the new coronavirus on December 27 are feverish.
Officials are already studying all the details of the vaccination operation, which has been given the code name “Eleftheria.”
The Deputy Minister of Digital Government, Grigoris Zarifopoulos, speaking to Mega this morning, referred to the way in which the vaccination will be done and how it will be planned. According to Mr. Zarifopoulos, his plan mass vaccination is a complex exercise that is being carried out for the first time in the country and will begin in December 27. According to the Undersecretary, priority will be given in vaccination to health workers, the elderly and workers in nursing homes. Then planning will begin through messages for the vaccination of the rest of the population in second half of January.
According to him, this will be done through the intangible prescription. Specifically, those who have activated it will receive a message on their mobile phone with information about the pre-established appointment. Then, they will have to accept the appointment or reschedule it either at a pharmacy or at KEP or on the emvolio.gov.gr platform.
For health workers, there are already lists in hospitals for planning, while for the rest the first messages will be sent in the second half of January. Vaccines will begin with people over 85 years of age, while for those who cannot go to the vaccination center there will be a similar provision.
Weekly vaccination update
The “key” to face the coronavirus pandemic is mass vaccination of the population, which is why the Ministry of Health places special emphasis on information, so that everyone understands that vaccines once they are approved by the European Agency. (EMA) is safe and effective. Every Monday at 6:00 p.m., the Ministry of Health will be periodically informed about the course and planning of the vaccination process against covid-19, which begins on December 27 in five hospitals in Athens and Thessaloniki, but also about its benefits. , by the emeritus professor of Pediatrics of the EKPA and president of the National Vaccination Committee Maria Theodoridou and the Secretary General of Primary Health Care of the Ministry of Health Mario Themistocleous.
Ms Theodoridou will report on the science related to the vaccination program and Mr Themistokleous will develop the National Vaccination Coverage Plan for COVID-19. In a simple, understandable and convincing way, they will explain to the public the great advantage of vaccination against the coronavirus. The operational vaccination plan for the population includes both the distribution and distribution of vaccines in our country and the vaccination of the population, the registration of vaccination data in the registry, as well as the pharmacovigilance process.
As has been said several times, in order to recover our life it is necessary to create the “wall of immunity”, that is, more than 60% of the population must be vaccinated.
“My message, and I think it represents everyone, is to start, if we haven’t already done so, to think positively about vaccination. It was something that we expected to happen from the beginning. We reached the point of realization. “At this point no one should be left out,” Ms. Theodoridou said recently. He even stressed that “since we started talking about an infection that can be prevented with a vaccine, we have beaten another infectious disease of the 21st century.”
Marios Themistikleous undertook business planning for the supply and distribution of the vaccines that will arrive in our country, but also the development of 1,018 vaccination centers in public structures of Primary Health Care and as he had said:
“Business planning presents a lot of complexity and greater technical difficulties, which are mainly due to the different characteristics of the vaccines of each company. Each vaccine has different storage and distribution specifications, as well as different technical specifications for carrying out the vaccination. Thus, the planning was done with the objective of being able to distribute the vaccines safely throughout the country, even in the most remote places. The effort is made to digitize everything, to digitize the entire process ”.
