The document of the Ministry of Health

Furthermore, the government spokesman, Stelios Petsas, had spoken about this possibility during the briefing of the political authors. “The addition of new beds in the ICU continues, while there is always availability to request – if necessary – beds in private clinics, hire additional medical staff and use available personnel with rapid training to be able to help our intensive care physicians.” It goes without saying that under conditions of war, like the one we are facing, the country functions as a single health district, “he said characteristically.

However, the first reactions have appeared, with the president of the private clinics talking about something not profitable for the clinics. As he claims, they cannot cope with such a decision due to the cost of drugs and oxygen, while there is a weakness at the level of the beds.

The ICUs were filled at AHEPA, Papageorgiou, Ippokratio

The situation in Thessaloniki hospitals is at a critical point and this is reflected in the number of occupied ICUs. According to the latest data, the covid-19 ICUs in AHEPA, Papageorgiou and Ippokratio are complete.

In fact, of the 3,227 cases announced by the National Public Health Organization (EODY) in the last 24 hours, 774 were registered in Thessaloniki.

In this context, TRAINOSE has been requested to help and have a train available in Thessaloniki to transport more Covid patients to a hospital in Attica. The train has already reached Thessaloniki and has six carriages.

The train consists of a total of four coach-type cars, a dining car and a coupe car, while it is located at the New Train Station in Thessaloniki, at a point where it will be easier and safer to transport patients.

New strict measures

The situation in the co-capital is deteriorating, and government spokesman Stelios Petsas attributes the fact that some people still behave more relaxed than conditions dictate.

Indeed, in northern Greece it is clear that there is still no question of lifting the blockade, as even today new measures were announced to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

  • The land border at Krystallopigi closes starting tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. The borders of Kakavia, Evzoni and Promachonas remain open.
  • Those who enter our country from the land border must undergo a rapid test, in addition to the molecular test that must be carried out 72 hours before arriving in Greece.
  • Controls will be strengthened in northern Greece both on the movement of citizens and in the workplace.

Tzitzikostas: “The situation is tragic, we are under attack”

The criticality of the situation is also reflected in the statements of the Governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, to MEGA.

“If the situation continues at the same rate, the city will not be able to lift the weight,” he said, adding that the Vellideio conference center could not become a Covid-19 center because it did not have the necessary infrastructure.

“We are not going to see a stabilization before the end of the month, the beginning of next.” If the upward trend continues, the system that is already at its limits, I am afraid it will exceed its limits and we will need support and help from all of Greece. “

He described as “contradictory” the fact that the regions do not have a voice or participation in the management of the pandemic, noting that, if necessary, the transport of patients from Thessaloniki to the rest of Greece will begin.
