The hospitality structures in Schistos, Malakasa and Eleonas were quarantined, with joint decisions by the Ministers of Citizen Protection, Health and Immigration and Asylum.
Traffic restriction measures will be in effect until September 21 in cooperation with EODY.
Previously, an emergency meeting was held at the National Public Health Agency after the detection of cases in the refugee reception centers, as the number of people who test positive for the coronavirus increases day by day.
The meeting discussed the measures taken to address the spread of the disease, as well as the implementation of the respective protocols for these structures.
The meeting was attended by the President of EODY, Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, the Secretary General of Reception of Asylum Seekers, Manos Logothetis, the Commander of First Reception, Tasos Mantagaris, and the Head of Preparedness and Response of EODY, Spidros 19 in refugee structures and immigrants from the country.
As EODY points out in its announcement, the priority of the Ministry of Health is the protection of the health of all citizens of the country, the shielding of surveillance systems and the early detection of COVID-19 cases.
17 cases in Moria
It is noted that now the cases of coronavirus in the BCP of Moria amount to 17, of the samples taken from 1,600 inhabitants. However, it is not excluded that this number may be higher after re-inspection.
However, Moria’s KYT has been quarantined.
The test began when a 40-year-old Somali man tested positive for the virus at the reception and identification center.
According to a relevant announcement from the Ministry of Migration Policy, a 40-year-old refugee illegally returned to Moria where he was staying in a tent outside the existing fence, despite having been issued an exit decision.
