In Thessaloniki, the situation in hospitals is desperate, a fact that arises from relevant data showing that all ICUs are busy.

In AHEPA 43 of 43 ICUs are occupied, in Ippokratio 25 of 25 ICUs are occupied and in Papageorgiou 43 of 43 ICUs are occupied. Although there is the possibility of one or two beds, in cases where there is an immediate need for intubation, doctors say they can no longer bear it.

Nurses and doctors from all over Greece have come to Thessaloniki to help. At the same time, in the Hippocratic Hospital and other hospitals in the area there are doctors who have not left for 4 months, have not seen their relatives, for fear of catching a coronavirus and cannot work.

The Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will be in Thessaloniki today, who will visit the Hippocratic Hospital on duty, then go to the Papageorgiou Hospital, while he will also be able to stop by the 424 military hospital to inspect the open-air hospital there.

At noon, Mr. Mitsotakis will meet with the Mayor of Thessaloniki, the Governor and Minister of Macedonia Thrace, and will discuss the evolution of the pandemic in Thessaloniki.

The problem came to light when a nursing home worker tested positive for the virus as part of a screening test, and the other cases were later identified during the scan.

It is noted that the person in charge of the nursing home is already intubated, while the report on the total number of cases in the structure is expected from EODY.

At the same time, Wednesday’s sample of Thessaloniki sewage showed 30% lower viral load than Monday’s sample.
