In progress is EKAB airline business plan, since the situation in the hospitals of the north of Greece is suffocating.
This morning at 10:00 a flight crew from the EKAB Air Transport Department, consisting of three doctors and three rescuers with C-130s, took off to attend to three Covid-19 incidents intubated from Kavala airport to Athens.
They are two 76-year-olds and one 75-year-old who are seriously ill.
Specifically, they will be transported by C-130 to Athens to be admitted to the Evangelism ICU and the “Attikon” and “Sotiria” hospitals.
According to the information, the aircraft has the capacity to transport three patients, each of whom must be accompanied by their doctor, who will be responsible until the patient is admitted to a hospital in Attica.
“We intubate patients in surgeries”
The situation at Drama General Hospital was described as tragic by the president of the hospital doctors, Parthena Kiorteve.
Speaking to SKAI, he noted that ICUs are full and patients are being intubated in surgeries, while other patients are being treated at Serres, Alexandroupolis and Kavala. He noted that other patients would need to be airlifted.
He said the Drama hospital is more affected than hospitals in other prefectures and there are not enough doctors.
For his part, the president of POEDIN, Michalis Giannakos, stressed that “unfortunately the situation in Drama is tragic, the ball was lost, to speak the language of truth.”
According to his statements to CNN, criminal negligence has occurred, as COVID-19 patients have mixed in clinics with other patients suffering from other illnesses.
Problem with oxygen?
In fact, on Thursday morning, there was information about high pressure and problems with the availability of oxygen in the Drama hospital, however, in an announcement, he denies the reports.
As the regional deputy governor of Drama, Giannis Papadopoulos, stated in statements to “Koira Ora MEGA”, the region “took a step forward” to solve any problem. “Today this torment will end,” he said, while explaining that by installing three Covid clinics, hospitalizations exceeded all those given, with the system reaching its limits.
“Today 65 bottles, small and large, will be supplied from abroad to cover their needs,” added the deputy governor of Drama.
In a statement, the hospital emphasizes the following:
“No problem was created with the necessary oxygen supply to the COVID Clinic. All patients treated in our Hospital have the required medical and nursing care. The intervention that the Hospital has already carried out and for which it is funded by the AMTh Region In compliance with all legal procedures, it refers to the increase in the supply of oxygen from the substation from 14-18m3 / h to 2 * 25m3 / h in the COVID 2 Clinic, in order to strengthen the existing supply.
To achieve the above and taking into account the absolute safety for the patients of the specific Clinic, we supply oxygen cylinders to provide oxygen to the patients, for the period of 1 hour that will be necessary to update the substation ”.
