With the increase in coronavirus cases, the country is on its way to limit the spread of Covid-19.
In the latest report on the course of the pandemic, the Undersecretary for Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, announced the extension of the measures until October 12.
What is valid in Attica
So far, the following measures are in force in the Attica region:
- The operation of health stores is prohibited from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 am. the next day.
- Up to 9 people are allowed in indoor and outdoor meetings. Areas where special distance measures apply, such as health warehouses, are excluded.
- Indoor and outdoor concerts have been suspended.
- Screenings in closed cinemas have been suspended.
- Theatrical performances have been suspended.
- A maximum of 20 people is established at weddings, baptisms, funerals.
- The maximum number of people at table seats in health food stores is six.
- In addition, the operation of any type of retail business has been suspended from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 am the next day, such as kiosks, mini markets (including those located inside service stations), warehouses, tobacconists, grocery stores, bakeries, confectioneries. However, pharmacies, gas stations and vending machines are excluded, except for the supply of alcoholic beverages. It is allowed to take, drive and deliver to restaurants with the exception of the sale of alcohol.
- The use of a mask is mandatory in all closed, public and private workplaces, as well as in all open meeting places, such as squares, bus stops, queues in shops, marches – demonstrations, political party events where You cannot observe the 1.5 meter distance rule.
- In addition, the operation of private companies has been temporarily suspended for the following activities: Bar services provided by a dance center. Services provided by a nightclub or disco. Services provided by an entertainment center-cafeteria. Services provided by a nightclub. Services provided by disco and concert hall services.
Popular markets and workplaces
In terms of public markets, sellers and consumers must wear a non-medical protective mask, while in each public market a 50% participation is allowed per category of seller (producers and professionals respectively). The minimum distance between the vendors’ benches is set at three meters, with the space between them free of objects.
For workplaces and employees in general it has been decided:
- Mandatory 40% teleworking for employees in the public and private sectors, who perform office tasks or can be done remotely.
- I travel to and from work in three waves for the State: at 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
- Establish flexibility in the arrival and departure of private sector employees in 4 waves, within 2 hours from the start and end of the working day.
- Scanning and sanctions to employers and employees who do not comply with personal protection measures in the workplace, that is, mandatory use of a mask.
- Thorough inspections: tests carried out by EODY teams at workplaces and meetings in congested areas of Attica and public and private sector services that are considered necessary, “for the proper functioning of the state and the economy”, such as schools, public transport and mainly hospitals.
- For the protection of citizens belonging to vulnerable groups over 65 years of age, it is recommended: a) Limit their movements during the next 14 days to what is absolutely necessary, always taking appropriate protection measures, b) Avoid contact with people other than close relatives. environment and avoid public transportation.
What applies to other regions
What applies to the regional units of Trikala, Pella, Pieria, Kilkis, Lesbos, Imathia, Chania, Heraklion, Halkidiki, Zakynthos and the municipalities of Mykonos, Kythnos:
- It is forbidden to operate all the health warehouses from 12 at night until 05:00 the next day.
- All kinds of events have been suspended, such as parties, fairs, processions.
- Any type of gathering of citizens over 9 people is prohibited for any reason, both in public and in private.
- In the dining areas a maximum number of people at each table is allowed up to 4 people, unless they are first degree relatives where up to 6 people are allowed.
- The use of a mask is mandatory both outdoors and indoors.
This applies to the regional units of Thessaloniki, Corfu, Larissa, Karditsa, Rethymno and Lassithi, as well as the municipalities of Thira, Volos, Katerini, Rhodes, Kos, Paros and Antiparos.

Finally, a strong recommendation is directed to citizens over 65 years of age, in Attica, but also throughout the country, for the general use of a mask, as well as to avoid public and private places of high meeting, public services, DEKO, banks, public transport.
