Koronaios: The evolution of the epidemic is terrifying: Attica is on fire, new measures are coming

[ad_1]

The coronavirus continues to spread in the country with an undiminished intensity, while the location of a new outbreak in a nursing home in Agios Panteleimon is terrifying as, among other things, the NSS is very likely to be severely affected.

September is shaping up to be a “black” month, as it closed with a total of 8,158 new coronavirus cases, with Attica racking up about half.

The total number of cases in September is very high since it corresponds to about 45% of the cases registered in the 7 months that the epidemic has spread in the country. At the same time, there were 125 new deaths out of a total of 391.

The health authorities are called to manage, in addition to the “first” negative from Attica in the cases, the epidemic outbreak that “ignited” in the Attention Unit for the Elderly in Athens and the deterioration of the situation that arose after a funeral , in five settlements of Boeotia and Evia, where a local blockade was activated.

Of particular concern is the increase in the number of patients treated with coronavirus, as well as intubated patients. In fact, many scientists insist that other measures must be taken not to escape the situation and stop the frantic course of the virus.

Scenarios for new measures

The situation in Attica, after the detection of 32 cases in the nursing home of the same name, is extremely critical and has alarmed the government, which is literally “in a breather” before taking further steps in a last-ditch effort to prevent the confinement.

On the table are all the scenarios, such as the universal use of a mask in Attica in the Trikala model. Many scientists suggest it is the last resort if the situation disappears forever.

School rotation is another scenario that has fallen on the table, as well as the restriction of traffic for older people. It is the scenario on which there is a lot of discussion, since it is actually aimed at those over 65 who are certainly careful and abide by the measures. There may be a schedule for your visit to supermarkets or other places and return of SMS or signed statements to leave home.

An extreme scenario that has fallen on the table is, the night traffic jam. Some scientists have also spoken of a traffic ban after 8:00 p.m., to avoid crowds in squares. It is recalled that the closing of the stores at 12 o’clock and the mandatory padlock in kiosks and warehouses at the same time, was done to limit traffic at night.

The scenario of store closings starting at 10 pm has the same purpose. Two hours earlier for restaurants and bars, although it is a measure that would increase the economic problems of entrepreneurs and possibly bring more young people to the squares.

“The mask must be worn everywhere”

Speaking to the “MEGA Hour Society”, Manolis Dermitzakis, professor of medicine, stressed that the use of the mask is imperative everywhere.

“A measure that must be taken urgently and I am impressed that it has not been done, it is a mask everywhere and especially in the center of Athens.”

Mr. Dermitzakis pointed out that “discounts” are made in the use of the mask since many do not use it continuously or correctly, while he stressed that its use should be done by everyone and everywhere, since it makes the tracking be faster and easier in case it occurs.

“When we use a mask, the probability of transmission is infinitesimal.”

“He broke protocol at Agios Panteleimon”

Referring to the cases that were identified in a nursing home in Agios Panteleimon, Mr. Dermitzakis emphasized that the number of cases shows that the protocol was broken somewhere.

“It just came to our attention then. In such structures, protocols must be followed with respect.”

The professor of medicine pointed out that it is important that the food relatives follow all the rules, while they must also see if all the necessary measures are followed in the nursing homes they have chosen.

“It seems that a structure has the correct philosophy in the protocols.”

The individual responsibility of all is important, since “the state can not control everyone individually, it is impossible.”

Furthermore, the large number of cases in the nursing home shows that “first it is time consuming and second there is a broader range of protocol violations.”

“Mask and extended test”

For his part, the infectious disease specialist and member of the coronavirus commission, Nikos Sypsas, stressed that it is “possible to proceed with new measures, not horizontally, but small interventions where necessary.”

According to him, the main intervention should be carried out in the center of Athens, which is the great problem of the epidemic and should include exhaustive tests of the inhabitants of the area, follow-up, isolation of cases, creation of special hotels for positive cases and this will be the case. . reduce the problem to its source “.

“We all wear a mask when we approach other people,” he said, referring to wearing a protective mask.

“What is absolutely certain is that we have a wide distribution in the center of Athens. Especially in areas where we have a crowd of citizens and where 20 people sleep together in the same house. We have a large dispersion there. The dispersion is much greater than what we captured, so extensive testing is needed, “he explained.

The “battle” against overcrowding

To this day, KTEL is entering the battle to avoid the overcrowding of vehicles, many of which are “mobile bombs” for the spread of the coronavirus.

A total of 200 vehicles and 550 drivers will boost transport, while with the presence of KTEL it is estimated that 100% of the execution of the planned itineraries will be achieved with better time distances.

It is important for the OASA network to reduce the waiting time of citizens, something that will bring decongestion on buses.

The first 60 KTEL buses start routes as of today and specifically from the lines “504: Thrakomakedones – SS. Dekelias – Kifissia” and “740: Olympic Village – SKA – Acharnai – Ag. Anna”.

According to the OASA, the temporal distances of the two routes will be significantly improved by 5 and 17.5 minutes respectively.

Passengers will travel free of charge until they are connected to telematics. The buses will operate at 65% of their capacity. Inside the vehicle will be the driver and the front passenger, who will verify the number of passengers.

The buses do not belong to the KTEL of Athens, but come from the region.

Concern about cases in a nursing home

Specialists have been very concerned about the location of at least 32 cases in a nursing home in Agios Panteleimon, as, among other things, this new outbreak is likely to be heavily affected by NSS.

The process of transferring the elderly who have been diagnosed positive for the new coronavirus to reference hospitals in Attica has already started this morning.

Indicative of the seriousness of the situation is what the representative of the Ministry of Health said for the coronavirus, Sotiris Tsiodras, who was immediately at the scene.

Mr Tsiodras, unable to hide his irritation at the situation in Athens, said that this is a situation that we do not want to see again and “sadly we see it again”. He added that “Thessaloniki has learned its lesson and is doing well, Athens is not doing well.”

“The specific area was inspected at the end of August and no cases were found. We have to see what happened last month,” stressed the president of EODY, Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, who speaking on Sky Radio said that cases can exceed 40. He added that according to the first samples of the tests, some nurses appear. contracting coronavirus in the last two weeks.

New areas in the eye of the cyclone

Aside from Attica, new areas are constantly entering the eye of the cyclone. It is characteristic that yesterday the General Secretariat of Civil Protection announced new preventive measures, after tracking a 63-year-old woman who tested positive for the coronavirus and is being treated at the hospital.

In fact, it prompted the Ministry of Labor to send a strict recommendation to workers in the settlements of the Tebas municipality and the local unit of Loukisia in Evia prefecture, to stay at home and not go to work.
