Politicians and infectious disease specialists are embroiled in a conflict of views on the universal use of the mask.

According to the information, and despite the clear proposal of a part of the scientists to make the mask mandatory in open spaces, the government decided not to accept their request.

At a meeting at the Palace of the Maxima on Friday morning, despite the fact that scientists insisted that only the use of masks could limit the spread of the coronavirus, especially in “red” areas like Attica, the government decided not to. adopt.

This is undoubtedly a political decision reported yesterday by in.gr. The universal use of the mask would launch developments and have strong reactions in society.

At a time when masks are already being used in schools, a new front that would open up would cause many problems for the government.

Of course, this does not mean that the health of citizens is in danger. Government and infectious disease experts agree that there are other measures that can reduce the virus and reduce the incidence in the near future.

The worry remains

Of course, they are always concerned about cases that are in closed structures, however, they estimate that with constant information, observance of the measures in force now and deciding to quarantine areas with a high epidemiological burden, there may be coronary disease.

Depending on how the disease will move in the next few days, and if there will be a new outbreak of cases, it is possible that the universal use of the mask will fall back on the table.

However, despite the negatives, this harsh measure had fallen on the table. In.gr is able to know that it was widely discussed in recent days, much of the infectious diseases committee was in favor, however, the final decision would be made, as it was, by the government.

This decision was announced in advance on Friday morning by the government spokesman, Stelios Petsas, who speaking with ANT1 stressed that the universal use of the mask is not being discussed.

“These traces are controlled by tracking and, I repeat, we are in a much better environment,” he said, adding that “what matters now is the resumption of the school year and if we get through this stage without problems, the next danger is complacency.”

It is recalled that 372 new cases of coronavirus were announced yesterday, a record number for our country. Of these, 133 were located in the Attica region and 164 are associated with known confluences. Specifically, 114 are related to the food industry in Pella -whose operation is suspended until September 18-, while 29 with the recycling industry in Attica.
