October is expected to be a difficult month, due to the start of the flu season, with Attica setting a negative record for the entire epidemic period in the number of daily coronavirus cases.
The situation is on the tightrope, with our country now entering a very critical period, where mistakes are not forgiven.
The basin registered a negative record on the first day of October with 272 new cases, out of a total of 411. It is recalled that last week Professor Gikas Majorkinis had referred to the constantly high number of cases, more than 300 per day, to make sound the alarm. .
There is also a negative record in the number of intubated. In yesterday’s epidemiological report, their number jumped to 89. This is one of the largest numbers, perhaps the largest, of intubations recorded in the field of Intensive Care Units (ICU).
Of the 89 patients battling the coronavirus intubated in the country’s hospitals, 59 are in Attica. This is to be expected, of course, from scientists, as there is a very large epidemiological burden in the basin. Hundreds of cases a day prove it, as does hospital admissions steadily.
The pressure for masks intensifies everywhere
Athens, according to Mr. Tsiodras, did not learn the lesson and now … sees the situation slipping away. This is also why scientists are now openly talking about new measures.
So far these are limited to general mask use and not a new lock. However, everyone is in a hurry to clarify that a new confinement will be the last weapon in our country’s quiver.
Speaking to MEGA, the professor of medicine, Manolis Dermitzakis, stressed that the use of the mask is imperative everywhere.
“A measure that must be taken urgently and I am impressed that it has not been done, it is a mask everywhere and especially in the center of Athens.”
Mr. Dermitzakis pointed out that “discounts” are made in the use of the mask since many do not use it continuously or correctly, while he stressed that its use should be done by everyone and everywhere, since it makes the tracking be faster and easier in case it occurs. “When we use a mask, the possibility of transmission is infinitesimal,” he concluded.
The situation in Greece
Very high compared to the previous days and more than 400 cases of coronavirus appeared in Greece in the last 24 hours.
Specifically, EODY announced 411 new confirmed cases of the deadly virus in our country, of which 68 are associated with known outbreaks and 26 were identified after controls at the country’s gateways.
Thus, the total number of cases is 18,886, of which 56.1% are men, while 2,961 (15.7%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 7,755 (41.1%) are related to an already known case.
Additionally, 89 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their average age is 70 years. 28 (31.5%) are women and the rest are men. 86.5% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older. 214 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
As for the dead, EODY announced 2 more deaths recorded, while a little later there was another that raised the final report to 394.
