A very serious complaint was made by the Federation of Private Teachers of Greece, since with its announcement two cases of coronavirus were found in a large private school in Athens, which, however, continues with its activities normally. A few days before the opening of schools on September 14, OIELE also comments on free coronavirus tests for teachers.
Specifically, the OIELE announcement states:
An extremely serious incident came to the attention of our Federation. Two colleagues serving in a large private school in Athens tested positive for coronavirus, yet we were surprised to learn that the school has not informed either Ministry of Education officials or our colleagues. Rather, it stays open, continues its preparations for the new school year with unsuspecting teachers coming to the site every day, welcoming parents and students, etc.
It goes without saying that under current guidelines, the school must immediately close down and begin tracking case finding cases. Unfortunately, school officials are displaying tragic irresponsibility, ignoring their social responsibility and the possibility of the school becoming a health bomb for students, parents, and employees.
We wonder reasonably. Were the famous “free coronavirus tests for teachers” done for the safety of staff and children or was it just a communication bubble? Will the coordinated state allow one or more private schools, powerful as they are, to endanger the health and safety of hundreds of people?
