Koronaios – Northern Greece: the number of intubated people is increasing – Doctors go voluntarily

Coronavirus intubators hit a negative record on Wednesday, showing that with 613 ICU patients we must steer clear of any discussion of lifting the blockade.

Especially in northern Greece, and with the total case stable at more than 2,000, the outlook is particularly bleak after a month in lockdown mode.

Data from hospitals and especially intubated ones are black. On November 7, when the confinement began, the number of people intubated was 234 and in two weeks it doubled. On November 19, the number of intubations was 504 and today, despite yesterday’s decrease to 596, they amount to 613.

Of these, 276 belong to the 18-39 and 40-64 age groups, which confirms the medical estimate that the coronavirus hits people “blind” regardless of their age and is not a virus that mainly affects the elderly. In fact, intubated people between 18 and 39 years old today amount to 13 compared to 12 yesterday.

Another 337 patients with Covid-19 infection receiving mechanical ventilation belong to the age group 65 years and over, of which 2/3 are men.

The greatest burden has been borne by hospitals in Macedonia and Thrace, where 70% of patients with Covid-19 infection are treated and where more than 1,600 people have died of the 2,606 total deaths from the epidemic.

Salaries of doctors and nurses going to hospitals in northern Greece double

Health after the evening press conference of the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias.

“As part of its greater strengthening, 8 doctors from the National Health Service, 5 doctors, 2 general practitioners and 1 cardiologist will attend, who currently provide services in Attica hospitals and in the Ligourio health center, Argolida”, the announcement of the Ministry of Health continues.

For these 8 doctors and for those colleagues from the National Health Service, doctors and nurses, in the specialties that COVID clinics need, to help the effort of the “first line” hospitals that are needed at this stage, the Minister of Health. Vassilis Kikilias presents a legislative regulation to Parliament tomorrow, which plans to double their salaries during the time they will offer their services there.
