Just when September ended, that is, with Attica “on fire”, October began, which is unfortunately expected, if not worse, as difficult as the previous one, due to the start of the flu season.
The “transition” from one month to another took place … all but in a smooth way with the basin setting a negative record on the first day of October with 272 new cases, out of a total of 411. It is recalled that with a negative record in Attica we had to say goodbye to September, during which more than 4,000 cases were identified.
Another very worrying fact is that the cases have begun to stabilize daily in a number of more than 400. It is indicative that of the last three days, the two cases exceeded 400, while the others were very close to this “psychological” . “Limit.
However, the number of people being treated by intubation is also terrifying. Yesterday’s epidemiological report reported 79 intubated and today their number has increased to 89.

Added to all of the above is the fear of nursing homes, with more than 40 cases found in the Agios Panteleimonas nursing home, which once again brings to light the discussion about the lack of protection measures in these areas.
Therefore, it is clear that the situation is on the tightrope, with our country now entering a very critical period, where mistakes are not forgiven. Indicative of the prevailing situation are the statements of Sotiris Tsiodras outside the Agios Panteleimon nursing home. His concern, otherwise, always calms Mr. Tsiodra about the course of the pandemic in the capital is now evident, as is his irritation.
It is recalled that speaking yesterday the representative of the Ministry of Health about the coronavirus, in a forceful tone said that Athens is not doing well, unlike Thessaloniki, which took its lesson.
The pressure for masks intensifies everywhere
Athens, according to Mr. Tsiodras, did not learn the lesson and now … sees the situation slipping away. This is also why scientists are now openly talking about new measures.
So far these are limited to general mask use and not a new lock. However, everyone is in a hurry to clarify that a new confinement will be the last weapon in our country’s quiver.
Speaking to MEGA, the professor of medicine, Manolis Dermitzakis, stressed that the use of the mask is imperative everywhere.
“A measure that must be taken urgently and I am impressed that it has not been done, it is a mask everywhere and especially in the center of Athens.”
Mr. Dermitzakis pointed out that “discounts” are made in the use of the mask since many do not use it continuously or correctly, while he stressed that its use should be done by everyone and everywhere, since it makes the tracking be faster and easier in case it occurs. “When we use a mask, the possibility of transmission is infinitesimal,” he concluded.
Mini confinement in Kythnos
All this, at a time when new areas enter the “eye” of the cyclone every day. Today, the General Secretariat of Civil Protection announced a mini closure in Kythnos.
The measures include, among other things, the prohibition of the operation of all health warehouses from 12 at night until 05:00 the next day, the prohibition of any type of gathering of citizens older than 9 people for any reason, both in public and private, as well as on a mandatory basis. wearing a mask both outdoors and indoors.
The measures are valid for 14 days from Friday 02-10-2020 and hours 05.00 to Friday 16-10-2020 and hours 05.00.

“License” to attend jobs and schools in Thebes and Chalkida
On the other hand, the strong recommendation of the GGP to the inhabitants of Thebes and Chalkida remained in force. However, today came the recommendation that students not attend schools of all levels, as well as the recommendation that workers from the public and private sectors of these settlements not move to work, who of course are obliged to observe Strictly all COVID-19 self-protection measures.
However, the following measures remain in force:
- Mouriki, Platanakia, Ypato and Loutoufi from the municipality of Thebes of the Regional Unit of Viotia and
