Attica is on orange alert, as stressed by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, when announcing the package announced in the morning by the Prime Minister, in order to curb the serious upward trend of cases in recent days. .
The measures refer to general restrictions for residents throughout Attica and more specifically for employees and vulnerable groups.
Regarding the figures, Mr. Hardalias stated the following:
Since the pandemic began on February 25, 14,400 cases have been confirmed, of which 4,084 are active throughout the country. Of these 2,100, that is, more than half are in Attica and 966 in the municipality of Athens.
Of the active cases in Attica, 263 are hospitalized, while 1,837 have recovered at home.
As can be seen from the data, every day we have 3 cases per 100,00 inhabitants in Attica, which shows a moderate to high epidemiological risk and the situation is constantly increasing.
“We have to act quickly, before the alarm reaches red,” said Mr. Hardalias, adding that the problem is located in 7 municipalities, but in recent days it is very intense in the municipality of Atenas.
For this reason, the government, in consultation and cooperation with the mayor, proceeded to plan additional measures that include:
• Restricted testing on vulnerable groups
• Special communication with specific groups of citizens
• Additional sanitary measures and
• The scan verifies the implementation of existing measures.
It is also planned to transfer a series of positive cases to quarantined hotels where they will be under the supervision of health personnel and receive the necessary care. Among them will be asymptomatic immigrants.
Regarding additional measures:

• Comprehensive controls: tests carried out by EODY teams in workplaces and meetings in the overwhelmed areas of Attica and services of the public and private sector that are considered necessary, “for the proper functioning of the state and the economy, such as schools, public transport and mainly hospitals.
Mr. Hardalias pointed out that data from the last few days shows that positive cases are spread among people who work in the private sector.
“We ask employers and employees to strictly adhere to the protocols,” he said. %).
“The responsibility for compliance with the measures rests mainly with the businessmen,” said Mr. Hardalias, adding: “It should be understood and clear that closing a business is to the detriment of all”.
Finally, Mr. Hardalias pointed out that it has been proven that the measures taken so far have borne fruit and emphasized two points: Avoid social contacts and synchronicity as much as possible, and the mandatory use of a mask, especially in public transport.
