The prime minister was informed today of the suffocating pressure that hospitals receive from the commanders of the country’s RIA.
Hospital administrators presented the situation in ICUs in their own regions in figures, while analyzing both the virus transmission rate and the correlation between admissions and discharges in the country’s hospitals.
Negative record in intubated
At the same time in our country another negative record was registered today in the intubated in 562 (of the 549 announced yesterday).
Unfortunately, this is not the only indicator that remains high, since today not only did 101 other people lose the battle with the deadly virus, but the cases also increased again since while yesterday there were 1,388, today 2,135 diagnoses were made.
Experts estimate that patient admissions to Covid-19 clinics and ICUs, intubation, and deaths will increase in the next ten days.
Increase in hospitalizations in the country
The data from the previous 48 hours already confirm the estimates of the specialists since in two days there was a 10% increase in hospitalizations of patients with coronavirus.
On the other hand, discharges, as reported by RIA commanders, are still significantly lower than hospital admissions.
Coronavirus strikes patients under 65
Another point that worries the experts is the age characteristics of the cases.
This is due to the fact that during the second wave there is an increase in hospitalization and intubation of people under 65 years of age.
Yesterday it was learned that 15 patients between 18 and 39 years old were intubated in the ICU.
“In November alone, more than 1,000 people were hospitalized. 85% of the dead were over 65 years old. Another 117 people who ended up are under 65 years old. During the same period, 183 people under 65 years old have been intubated”, Mrs. Papaevangelou clarified yesterday.
Today’s news, however, gave a ray of optimism to the previous data that two patients under the age of 39 were intubated today by the ICU.
They send Parliament doctors, people and volunteers to Thessaloniki.
It is noted that in the fight against the coronavirus, parliamentarians have decided to enter voluntarily due to the pandemic that is reaping in our country. Other doctors from around the country have volunteered.
Also at a time when the healthcare system is under significant pressure from rising hospital admissions, more than 200 private doctors have answered the call to strengthen hospitals in northern Greece.
The situation in each region according to the commanders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Attica: There is a stabilization in the cases and in the management of the hospitals.
The commander of the 1st RAE Panagiotis Stathis pointed out in the Prime Minister’s information that in Attica (except West Attica and Piraeus belonging to the 2nd RAE), there are 29 Hospitals and two Children, of which eight are Reference Hospitals, while there are they have developed 10 Centers. Covid Health.
58.8% integrity in the ICU
The beds available for COVID from the 1st RAE are 1,191 in total. According to Stathis, the figures in Attica show that there is stabilization both in cases and in hospital management. He added that 20% of ICU beds are free, while the occupation of common beds is 58.8%.
An important element, Stathis stressed, is that “we see the flattening of cases and the fluctuation curve after the blockade to have a decreasing course. The forecast says that in the next fortnight we will have a reduction of serious cases.” , Attica remained at a point where it did not reduce surgeries by more than 40% when in the first period of March there was a total suspension of surgeries.
As for the second SAR, namely West Attica, Piraeus, but also the Aegean islands, there are a total of 505 COVID beds available.
Covid single bed coverage is 50%.
The pressure on the COVID ICUs of the 2nd RAE is significant and is currently being addressed with the use of beds by the private sector and the continuous development of new beds.
Macedonia: Covid Single Bed Coverage 85% – Reduced Imports
Regarding the III RAI of Macedonia, the commander Panagiotis Bogiatzidis affirmed that yesterday in the Papageorgiou Hospital 51 admissions were registered and 24 suspected cases were handled, data that was reduced compared to the previous guard of the same hospital and 62 number of suspicious incidents that then proceeded to the system.
It reported 85% coverage of available COVID single beds, but at the same time significant pressure on available ICU beds.
4th RAE: Pressure in the hospitals of Thessaloniki, Drama, Serres and Halkidiki
4th RAE commander Dimitris Tsalikakis stated that
Beyond Thessaloniki, at the moment there is pressure in the hospitals of Drama, Serres and Halkidiki, stressed Commander Dimitris Tsalikakis.
459 empty beds out of a total of 1,650
According to the information provided by the Commander of the 4th RAE, the total number of simple COVID beds that have been developed amounts to 1,650 and 1,191 beds are currently occupied. He noted that there is pressure and that steps have already been taken to unload with the increase in the total capacity of the system and the participation of the private sector.
Controlled pressure in Larissa and Volos
The commander of the 5th RAE, Fotis Seretis, estimated that in Larissa and Volos there is currently intense pressure on the health system, but the situation is under control.
The pressure on the hospitals has led, on the one hand, to a modification of the burden sharing between the NSS hospitals and, on the other, to cooperation with the private sector.
As he said, the Larissa General Hospital now accepts only coronavirus patients while the University Hospital has taken over the surgical sector and the obstetric clinic, on a daily basis. At the same time, for two weeks, it has cooperated voluntarily with two private clinics and contacts have been initiated with two more private structures. Mr. Seretis estimated that based on the most recent data, the Rt index has decreased in Larissa to 0.95, compared to 1.05 in the previous days.
In Magnesia, the transmission rate is slightly higher, 1.17, but there is a decrease in incoming incidents and an increase in downloads, while two private clinics are already being contacted for a possible increase in imports. For the decongestion of the General Hospital of Volos, rapid tests are carried out in the Health Center and in three tents that were placed in the courtyard, with the help of the army.
Mr Seretis added that in all hospitals in Thessaly ICU beds have now been developed for COVID, with the total number of intensive care beds being 83, up from 20 initially.
Geographic distribution of cases
It is recalled that there was a dramatic increase in coronavirus cases in relation to yesterday’s announcements, since EODY speaks of 2,135 infections.
At the same time, the health system continues to receive suffocating pressures with 562 patients undergoing intubation treatment, while another day a three-digit number of deaths was registered with 101. It is recalled that 1,388 new cases were reported on Monday, 549 intubated and 84 new deaths.
Analysis of the data shows that 12 people between the ages of 18 and 39 are hospitalized in the ICU, while the 65 and older group has the lead with 307 patients. The 40-64 group follows with 242 patients.
